Posted by: admin   in sales and marketing

Product marketing deals with the four P’s of marketing. The four P’s of marketing are product, pricing, place and promotion. These are important for the companies to increase the number of customers. A product market is such which is referred to when a new product has to be introduced to the general public.

Product marketing deals with addressing the following questions. The first question that it addresses is what products shall be offered i.e. the breadth and depth of the product line. The next question that it deals with is who shall be the target customers i.e. which market segments will be served by the product. The next issue is how the products will reach the market i.e. what types of distribution channels will be used. The last and the most important question to be dealt shall be why would customers prefer to use the products of the company rather than that of the competitors i.e. what additional attributes and values does the product have.

It is a job function that differs from marketing communications, online marketing, advertising and marketing strategy. It deals with marketing the products to customers and prospective clients whereas the others deal with the marketing as well as the promotion of the products.

It also involves giving product demonstrations and analyzing competitors. It deals with outbound marketing tasks. It involves analyzing the market and creating good requirement documents. The activities involved in marketing a product must be performed by qualified professionals who are technically skilled. They must have sufficient experience in a particular market or technology.
